Life Outside the Box is the Only Life for Me!
I can remember the exact moment when I first heard the expression “living life outside the box.” It was 2005 and I was ready to change my life completely. I asked friends and family members if they knew anyone who had completely changed their life. To my surprise, they did know people who had left jobs and careers, moves across the country, and created lifestyles that made more sense for them.
One couple had left the corporate world and relocated from New York City to southern California. They invited me to go hiking one Saturday morning and the man began sharing how their life was different from what it had been in the past. He described it as living life outside the box.
Their story resonated with me, and I could feel the pain as they shared stories from their previous life. I was immediately motivated to embark on my own transformative journey. But first, I had to find something that I could do to replace the income I would be leaving behind as a classroom teacher, while also working part-time in real estate. I had to define my own life outside the box on my terms.
