Connie Ragen Green — Overcoming Life’s Challenges

I have long held the belief that we are accountable to ourselves, first and foremost. Sometimes we don’t feel like living up to our self-directed expectations or challenges, but that will never be a reason or excuse not to move forward. Instead, make a schedule, add your tasks and activities to it, and then focus on accomplishing your goals every single day. I find that three or four items work best for my daily to-do list. This is just one small part of the process of overcoming life’s challenges.

Yet, life can be a struggle at times and we must rise to the challenge of moving forward in a positive and productive manner if we are to enjoy all that we can do, be, and have as a part of our life experience. …

Connie Ragen Green — Eliminate Procrastination Now

There are basically just three simple steps to take when you want to eliminate procrastination now. These are…Set A Goal — Write It Down — Get Started. Setting goals is the easy part. Everyone can do that. Writing down your goals is also easy, but very few take this step. Getting started is the piece of this equation than eludes many because procrastination sets in.

Getting over procrastination takes action. Of course that is easier said than done. …

Connie Ragen Green — The Courage to Begin… Again

Life is a miracle. Yet, no one makes it out alive. When the going gets tough we must make it a priority to become resilient and to develop mental toughness. This enables us to not only survive, but to thrive under any and all circumstances.

What does it mean to be resilient and have mental toughness?

In order to strengthen resilience, it’s important to understand the concept in depth. Resilience is the ability to move forward by growing through every part of life’s process. Struggling is a natural part of living. What matters is how we react to struggle.

It’s easy to let difficulty keep us down. It isn’t easy to stay afloat when the waters are rocky, and it’s okay to feel that struggle. Resilience is associated with toughness. Part of being tough means admitting to difficulty and working through it instead of ignoring it. …

Connie Ragen Green — Public Speaking: Fear, Practice, and Rushing Through Your Presentation

When it comes to public speaking fear can and will get in the way of your delivering the most impactful presentation you are capable of delivering. Whether you still have a fear around speaking publicly or if you have moved past the fear and on to working on your delivery I’d like to share some insights with you that will make a difference.

Most speakers I see in person or on a virtual call tend to rush through their slides or handout much too quickly, I believe. As soon as the moderator or host introduces them they are off to the races and it appears to the audience members that they want it to be over as soon as possible. This does not work in your favor in terms of your credibility. And if you will be offering something for sale at the of your presentation, or even if you will just be sending people to your blog or website to join your list and download a free report or other gift, slow down for best results. …

It was the final week of a year that almost broke many people around the world. I was one of the lucky ones in 2020, or so it felt to me. My health was good. My business was growing. My family was happy. But something was still missing in my life.

Connie Ragen Green — Surviving in Life and Business During a Pandemic

During the first weekend of March, 2020 I hosted my twice annual marketing event in Manhattan Beach, California as I’ve done for over ten years now. By the end of the weekend the world had changed. A two hundred person wedding part had cancelled for Saturday evening, the flight crews that typically stay at the hotel we were at because of its close proximity to LAX were flying home, and by Monday morning my participants were the only guests at the hotel. There were whispers from the hotel staff that the flu we had been hearing about might be more serious than we had originally believed it to be. This COVID-19 crisis has now radically changed our lives. …

Connie Ragen Green — Randy: The Boy Who Made Us Smile

When the social worker popped open her trunk the stench of the smoke was almost more than we could stand. It was emitting from the two large trash bags that contained Randy’s clothes. There was also a small bicycle and a pair of cowboy boots. Together she and I dragged everything over to my car and jammed it into my trunk. Then we said our goodbyes. They shook hands without him looking up and he didn’t watch as she drove out of the parking lot. We got into my car without either of us saying a word. …

Connie Ragen Green — Finding Your Purpose as an Entrepreneur

Finding Your Purpose as an Entrepreneur is Life-Changing

Let’s talk about purpose and why it’s so important to have one (or several) to live a happy and fulfilled life. As human beings we need to feel needed. We want to be a part of something bigger and make a difference. It’s part of our nature and our DNA. It’s why we work so well together in a society — at least for the most part. Finding your purpose as an entrepreneur will change the trajectory of your life, along with your business.

Sometimes this is referred to as finding your “why” and even entrepreneurs differ in their beliefs on this topic. My colleague and co-author Ellen Finkelstein has published an article sharing her views on why she believes Finding Your Why is Overrated. …

Connie Ragen Green — Maintaining Your Sense of Humor During a Pandemic

Why Maintaining Your Sense of Humor During a Pandemic is So Essential

Visualizing into the future is an effective way to deal with the present and to find a way to carry on in the face of adversity and hopelessness. Making sense of the year 2020 is something we will all benefit from doing, I believe. Engaging in mental gymnastics that stretch our imaginations and paint pictures we are able to insert ourselves into will give nourishment to the hollow recesses of our minds. Filling in the empty spaces within the caverns of our thinking brains allows us to write the story we will be telling until we draw our last breath.

It’s a perfectly imagined spring afternoon and I’m sitting at the Café Varenne in Paris, just a short walk from our hotel in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Across the table from me is Luke, my friend, my confidant, my soulmate. He takes my free hand and holds it in his, silently persuading me to put down the croissant that no longer holds my interest. …

Connie Ragen Green — Google My Business — Getting Started

Showing up at the very top of a Google search can mean money in the bank due to the fact that more than 30% of all clicks go to the first result listed (not including ads). As a local business, showing up in the top three listings is an opportunity to stand head and shoulders above your competitors. It’s also a way for you to beat all of those directory-listing services trying to get your customer’s attention. When it’s all said and done, your Google My Business listing is only as good as the content you post and optimize.
